Taihu lake water area is vast, as the third largest freshwater lake in China. Its existing water area is 2338 km2, and average water depth is less than 2m. Its flow characteristics are mainly wind-driven flow and gravity flow. Meiliang Bay is a bay in the north of Taihu Lake, located 10km southwest of the center of Wuxi city, in the shape of a large open pocket. It is connected with Wuli Lake in the northeast, near Zhushan lake across Ma mountain. Its south direction is Taihu Lake body. It shows the remarkable circulation structure under the influence of the typical southeast wind.
This time, the measurement range of the original observed project is the whole Taihu Lake. The key measurement range is 10 x 16 km range of Meiliang Bay, Taihu lake. The target is to obtain the situation of lake circulation movement over the long-term influence of monsoon climate environment. Due to technical limitation, the methods for measuring the field flow rate of wild lake is limited recently, mainly taking ship or float as a carrier to make fixed-point or underway research.
Low-altitude telemetry based on UAV image has been widely used in many fields at present. The survey scope of Taihu lake is wide; dynamic change is large; timeliness requirement is high. Using new and efficient UAV measurement technology is beneficial to helping the researchers' measure and evaluate the water power of Taihu lake more quickly and comprehensively, and improve the scientific research ability of water environment.
